Davis Dyslexia Correction®
Each Davis Programme is tailored to meet the needs and goals of individual. By establishing clear goals, the programme allows the individual to address the areas in their life that are being negatively affected by dyslexia.
The two major components of the Davis Dyslexia Correction® Programme are:- Davis Orientation Counselling™
- Davis Symbol Mastery™
Davis Orientation Counselling gives the dyslexic students the ability to recognize and control the disorientation and correct their perception. With corrected perception, the student is ready to work on the symbols and other triggers which cause confusion and their disorientation.
Davis Symbol Mastery gives dyslexic students the ability to think with symbols and words, so they can learn to read easily and with full comprehension. By using the Symbol Mastery process, the student is guided to make models of the basic symbols of reading and writing (i.e. alphabet in upper and lower case and punctuation marks) and then shown how to Master trigger words in clay. Confusions are identified and resolved by creating the symbol or word in clay.
Davis Orientation Counselling, Davis Symbol Mastery and many other techniques learnt during the Programme give the student practical, simple and effective skills – often referred to as tools - which they will be able to use for throughout their life. The Davis Dyslexia Correction Programme gives an individual the skills and tools they need to overcome their learning difficulties, restore their self-esteem and progress in the mainstream of education and employment.
