The Davis Reading Programme for Young Learners is an individualized learning enhancement programme. The objective is to give children aged 5-8 the best possible start at the outset of their entry into school.
The Davis Reading Programme for Young Learners is intended to provide foundational skills for both reading development and the self-regulation of attention, focus and energy level. It is a reading enhancement programme which enables a child to progress with reading in a way that is meaningful to them. It is not meant to correct dyslexia, which really requires a more intensive, one-on-one approach. Nonetheless, if younger children learn these skills, they can often avoid falling behind and may not develop the learning barriers that are typical of dyslexia.
The programme aims to:The Davis™ Reading Programme for Young Learners provides important tools to beginning readers. Through the unique partnership philosophy of the programme, parents or other family members gain the skills needed to provide the child with ongoing quality support. The programme is delivered for three hours each morning over a two week period. Typically, a parent or caregiver participates in the sessions and helps the child master the new skills and techniques.
