The Davis™ Method

"When someone masters something, it becomes part of that person. It becomes part of the individual's thought and creative process. It adds the quality of its essence to all subsequent thought and creativity of the individual." - Ronald D. Davis

For dyslexia to exist, three traits will be present. The individual will have:
  • The ability to think with mental images.
  • The ability to register those mental images as if they were actually being perceived.
  • A lower than normal threshold for confusion.

Davis Orientation Counselling™
This gives the individual the ability to manage and control their perception - they will be able to "correct" their perception. Orientation Counselling is the essential first step for the individual to gain positive control over their perception. Once their perception is "corrected", they will then be able to effectively address and eliminate the reasons for confusion.

Davis Symbol Mastery™
For a dyslexic individual, certain symbols such as words, letters, numbers and punctuation, consistently cause confusion. By creating the alphabet and other symbols in clay, the individual is able to "master" the sources of the confusion. Symbol Mastery is an effective learning tool as it utilises the individual's strengths - creativity and picture-thinking.

Orientation Counselling and Symbol Mastery together with other tools and exercises enable the individual to identify and control confusion, address and eliminate the the sources of confusion and allow a relaxed state of focus to be used for learning.

Orientation Counselling corrects the perception; Symbol Mastery corrects the dyslexia.

All programmes give an individual the skills and tools they need to overcome learning difficulties, restore self-esteem and progress in the mainstream of education and employment.
